Everyday Life Becomes Expensive

The previous budgeting for two is turned on its head

When you start a family, new needs arise bringing with them new costs.

Having a family has various implications for your financial circumstances. It is good to be aware of these at an early stage.

The most important question is whether parents still continue working as before. Or whether one of you will stay at home until your child is old enough to manage on its own. Either way, you will be left with less money at the end of the month. You will either have to pay for childcare or you will give up some or all of one of your salaries.

Perhaps you will also need a bigger apartment so that there is enough space for the family. And what about your car? Can it accommodate your family or are you soon going to have to get an estate car or a people carrier? Does your budget allow you all this?

If you wish to go on holiday, it will also become more expensive. By the time your children go to school, you will only be able to go during the school holidays when peak rates apply. And whenever your kids want to buy a souvenir or some other things, you will be faced with the question of pocket money.

Provision for the children

When you have children, it is particularly important to look for long-term projects. Consider taking out additional insurance, which will go some way towards paying for future outlay. No doubt you will like to help out your children financially now and later when they are a bit older. For example when they are at a university, getting married or setting up their own home. We can give you a few tips on how to make future provisions for your children.
