More than Just a Means of Payment.

Your credit card doesn't just allow you to make payments without using cash – you can also benefit from other services.

Reward Schemes

The more you spend on your credit card, the more you earn: that’s the principle of reward schemes. Most credit card issuers reward their customers through a points system. The more the card is used, the more points the card holder collects. You have to apply for these schemes to be able to exchange your points for benefits and gifts.

One example of a reward scheme is M-CUMULUS in association with the M…MasterCard. This allows you to collect CUMULUS points even when shopping outside Migros – in Switzerland and abroad. When you have a certain number of points, you receive a voucher and also benefit from special bonus point offers.

Webmiles

Viseca, a joint scheme run by several partner banks, offers ‘webmiles’ when you use your MasterCard or Visa credit card. Webmiles includes a wide range of products.

Pointup

Credit Suisse provides a similarly wide reward scheme on its MasterCard and Visa cards, called ‘pointup’.

Miles&More

Cornèr Bank and Swisscard run the Miles&More scheme on their credit cards, a frequent flyer program: Every time you use your credit card, you collect ‘miles’. You can exchange these for flights, hotel stays and car rental with Lufthansa and airlines in the Star Alliance.

Rewards for Credit Card Use

If you reach a certain level of credit card use, some schemes pay your annual card fee for the following year.

Insurance

Insurance may be part of your credit card’s package or may involve an additional fee, for example: Travel and flight insurance, payment protection in case you can’t work or in case you lose your job, theft insurance etc..

Additional Services

There's a wide range of further services depending on the type of card you have, for example: Credit cards with a personal design
(M…MasterCard MyDesign), receive your balance by SMS, cheap car rental, concierge service with platinum cards etc. A concierge may, for example, send flowers to your family for you or book a table in your favorite restaurant.

Security from your PIN code

Today almost all cards use chip and PIN technology, which gives them more protection from fraudulent use. Using a personal PIN code makes your credit card safer. It means that anyone with a stolen or lost credit card cannot use it to make purchases, even if the card hasn't yet been blocked. For this, vendors need a card reader that can read chip and PIN cards. There are many of these terminals in Switzerland and in other countries. This is why more and more shops both here and abroad ask you to enter your PIN code. You can change your personal PIN code any time at ATMs in Switzerland.
